According to industry sources, due to increased supply and weak seasonal demand, it is expected that the price of China's LED chips will decline by 10% in the fourth quarter of 2018, resulting in a year-on-year price decline of 20-30% in 2018.
Epistar, headquartered in Taiwan, also said that the actual shipments received in the fourth quarter of 2018 were much lower than in the previous quarter. However, Epistar said that the company will not lower the quotation to obtain more orders, but is preparing to adjust idle production equipment in preparation for the launch of new products in 2019.
According to relevant research data, Chinese LED chip manufacturers will add more than 300 MOCVD equipment, equivalent to the production capacity of 1.45 million LED epitaxial wafers per month in 2018, most of which are expected to be put into operation in 2019. As a result, the monthly capacity of Chinese manufacturers in 2019 is expected to reach 3.45 million LED epitaxial wafers.
